DHQ, or Dihydroquercetin, is a very powerful antioxidant - one of the most potent in the whole world. DHQ was first labeled as an antioxidant in the 1940's and referred to Taxifolin in the medical communities. DHQ works by giving one of its hydrogen atoms to a free radical, thus stabilizing it. Antioxidants in general are able to afford this "donation" without itself becoming a free radical.

DHQ on the ORAC scale (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) is 28,000+ µM TE/g). If you have ever heard about Goji Berries or Acai, well DHQ is 100x more powerful.

Where does DHQ come from? Dihydroquercetin is extracted from Siberian Larch Trees. Siberian and Dahurian Larch Trees are the richest, natural sources of DHQ. Watch out for DHQ from "imitation", lesser quality sources. Pure DHQ is extremely expensive.

In general, antioxidants help protect the body fight free radicals which are believed to be the cause of premature aging, oxidative stress.
